About Us

Annette Garcea is the director and principle teacher at Free Spirit Yoga. Her passion for yoga has led her to pursue her dream of having her own studio in hopes to inspire and uplift others. Yoga reminds Annette to live with love and gratitude, and to follow her heart. She teaches yoga with the deepest intention to heal and awaken the hearts of others to their greatest potential. Annette is Anusara-Inspired pursuing full certification. She is certified in Moksha Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Healing Yoga.

She draws her inspiration from her teachers and students, music, nature, yoga philosophy, and most importantly from her daughter, Michelle, who is her greatest teacher. Annette is deeply dedicated to her practice and continues to study the many paths of the yoga tradition.

With gratitude she honors all her teachers, John Friend, Todd Norian & Ann Green, Michael Siddall, Douglas Brooks, Martin & Jordan Kirk, Lochani, Jeannine Woodall, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Ted Grand, Jessica Robertson, Master Kim, Robert, Mooah Sohn, Byuck Woon, Dr. Ilchi Lee, and all who have graced her life.

Her formal education includes an Honors Degree in Economics from the University of Toronto, after which she worked in the investment industry for a number of years with Scotia McLeod Inc. Annette also studied music with the Royal Conservatory and enjoys playing Rachmaninoff, and continues to teach music. When Annette isn’t teaching yoga or at a soccer game with her daughter, she is hiking, rollerblading, playing beach volleyball and windsurfing. She can always be found somewhere outdoors amongst the elements, exploring the incredible earth.

Her calling came at an early age. Annette began practicing various postures at a young age, inspired by her mother who practiced yoga to relieve stress and gain strength of body and mind.Annette is also deeply grateful for her patient and reverent father, who gives endlessly from his heart.
