Annette Garcea, Director and Principle Teacher

AnnetteAs a life-time resident of Mississauga, Annette Garcea offers back yoga in Mississauga at her studio Free Spirit Yoga. She draws her inspiration from her teachers and students, music, nature, yoga philosophy and life. Her teachings are infused with yoga wisdom that applies to modern day life.

Annette Garcea is a certified Anusara Yoga® Instructor and E-RYT 500. She also holds certification in Moksha Yoga, Dahn Healing Yoga and Meditation, and Prenatal Yoga.

Annette teaches yoga both locally in her studio, and internationally in Europe and the USA. Annette also teaches meditation, yoga philosophy and chanting.

She has had the opportunity to study with many great yoga and philosophy teachers: Dr. Ilchi Lee, Yoona Kim, Byuk Woon, Ted Grand & Jessica Robertson, David Life & Sharon Gannon, Jeanine Woodall, John Friend, Todd Norian & Anne Green, Martin & Jordan Kirk, Sianna Sherman, Zhenja LaRosa, Michael Siddall, Dr. Douglas Brooks, Hareesh, Christopher Tomkins, Bill Mahony, Carlos Pomeda and her husband Dr. Tobias Ihde.

Annette is deeply dedicated to her practice and continues to study the many paths of the yoga tradition. She teaches with the deepest intention to connect students to their hearts and their free spirited nature. 

SHINE is the name of her bhakti band, where she offers monthly Kirtan’s, and combines her love and studies of music with yoga. To the evolvement of this practice she gives gratitude to Krishna – “the teacher who appeared, when the student was ready”.

With gratitude Annette honors all those who graced her life as her teachers.

Dr. Tobias Ihde
Dr. Tobias Ihde, Anusara-Inspired® Yoga teacher, founder of Yoga in Trittau, Germany. Tobias first met John Friend in 2004 and has been studying Anusara® yoga since then, with John Friend, and many more great teachers. Tobias graduated in Mathematics and Applied Science of Sports from University and earned his PHD in Economics and has worked as a top management consultant. Tobias loves thinking, moving, effective communication, and fun.  Tobias integrates his fun loving heart with a German protractor’s precision to elevate your practice to the highest and most integrous degree. He just loves teaching yoga for the fun of it. He is fully devoted to the upliftment and healing of his students.  And his cats. He teaches at our studio whenever he can make it over to Canada.


Justin Blayney

justin-blayneyJustin Blayney is a certified Hatha and Anusara™ – Influenced yoga instructor who graduated from the Leewi Yoga Teacher Training program.  Justin’s yoga journey started 3 years ago when he felt he needed something more than just regular exercise at the gym. He really connected to the spiritual aspect of the yoga practice and has been watching it make big transformations in his physical, spiritual and mental health.  Justin is inspired by many teachers on this yoga journey, most notably Eoin Finn, Annette Garcea, and Michael Siddall have helped guide him into the student and teacher he is today.

When not practicing or teaching yoga, Justin is an emerging contemporary artist whose artwork can be found in and around Toronto at various shows and exhibits. He also founded and runs the website development company Darkstar Media.



Michelle Garcea

Michelle is a 3rd year student at the University of Toronto Mississauga, and the youngest Certified FitYoga teacher in the world.  She was mentored under Balazs Heller, European Yoga Champion and Hungarian Gymnastics Champion, in 2009, and the founder of FitYoga in Malta.  FitYoga is a mix of Hatha, Vinyasa, and Power Yoga, with some pilatees and Gymnastics elements.

Michelle has also studied under Rachel Brathen, Desi Springer, John Friend, and her greatest teacher and influence is her mother, Annette Garcea.

Michelle has tapped into the art of teaching yoga with ease and joy.  She plans to continue her studies, teaching, and travelling the world expanding and deepening her practice.
