Om is a mantra, or vibration, traditionally chanted at the beginning and end of a yoga session. It is a primordial sound of the Divine. The entire universe is moving. Nothing is ever solid or still. Everything that exists pulsates, creating a rhythmic vibration that the ancient yogi's acknowledged was the sound Om - the sound of the universe. As we chant Om, we begin to sense a bigger connection that is uplifting and soothing.
Buddha "The Buddha" usually refers to founder of Buddism, Siddhartha Gautama (6th Century BCE) a prince of the Sakyans (people of modern day Northern India and Nepal), who gave up a life of luxury and power to become a Shramana (a wandering monk), so he could achieve Nirvana. During the years following his awakening, the Buddha gave advice and taught various methods of working with the mind and its perfect qualities (fearlessness, joy, and active compassion) to people from all walks of life according to their needs and understanding. -Wikepedia |
The teacher initiates Namaste as a symbol of gratitude and respect toward her students and her own teachers and in turn invites the students to connect with their lineage, thereby allowing the truth to flow - the truth that we are all one when we live from the heart.
